Western Bulldogs midfielder Adam Cooney will be pushing to return for Friday night’s clash against Geelong after missing the past two rounds through injury.

Cooney looks a possible inclusion for the blockbuster match with Medical Services Manager Andrew McKenzie hopeful that he will pass a fitness test after a solid week on the training track.

“He is back training this week and we hope that he will get through and be able to play,” McKenzie said.

A late omission from Saturday night’s game against the Gold Coast, Nathan Djerrkura may not be so lucky with quad tightness restricting him to the sidelines last weekend.

“Nathan pulled up tight in his quad and we didn’t want to risk him - he’s still a little bit sore so we are getting scans today and we will see how he is,” McKenzie said.

A more positive story is defender Christian Howard who played his first game back for Williamstown in the VFL after enduring a knee injury in round 1.

“He got through really well, he has pulled up well and we are really happy with his progress so he is back on track,” McKenzie said.

The remaining Bulldogs on the Club's injury list are progressing as expected with no setbacks during the week.
