Talented duo Heidi Woodley and Elle Bennetts have signed on following the conclusion of the 2024 AFLW season.
After a breakout season in the most recent campaign, Woodley has been rewarded with a three-year extension, tying the 21-year-old to the Kennel until the end of the 2027 NAB AFLW season.
Woodley was drafted to the Kennel with Pick 37 in 2022, having played 21 senior games since her debut.
She managed eight matches in the most recent campaign, contributing four goals while adding plenty of pressure and speed to the Bulldogs’ forward half.
The forward also claimed the Club’s Most Improved Player at the recent best and fairest awards.
Veteran Bennetts has signed on for another season, extending her Bulldogs career into a fifth year, having played 29 games since crossing from GWS.
A former professional netballer, Bennetts reached her 50th career match in Round 1 of the 2023 season, before being elevated to the Dogs’ leadership group this year.
Bulldogs’ List and Recruiting Manager, Dan Fisher, was pleased to secure both players given their importance to the future of the AFLW group.
“Heidi has shown plenty of promise during her time at the Club with 2024 displaying her speed, pressure and goal sense in the front half,” Fisher said.
“Given she is only 20 years of age, we see plenty of growth left in Heidi’s game, with her long-term commitment a positive for the direction of our program.”
“Elle’s leadership has been invaluable since crossing to our Club in 2021 and through great adversity continues to be a great teammate and player for the Bulldogs.”
“We’re excited to have someone with Elle’s versatility and experience remain with us into 2025.”
