2025 is set to be a milestone year.

Not only will the Club be celebrating its 100th year in the V/AFL, but a handful of players will also be hoping to enjoy their own milestone moments in 2025.

Here are just some that you can look forward to in the coming year.

250 Games:

Marcus Bontempelli (240) and Tom Liberatore (234)**

Two of the Club’s most popular players are on their way to an important career milestone, with both 'Bont' and 'Libba' set to run out in their 250th games.

Currently sitting on 240 games, Bont is on track to reach the milestone against the Bombers in Round 10 of the 2025 season.

The milestone will be yet another impressive moment in an already stellar career, which began in 2014 and includes six All-Australian selections (including as captain in 2024), three AFLPA MVP Awards, and six Club Best and Fairest wins.

With 234 games under his belt, Libba will likely play his 250th game against the Kangaroos in Round 17.

If the milestone is reached, Tom and Tony will become part of a select group of father-son players across the league to have both played 250+ games—and the Club’s first father-son combination to achieve this.

200 Games:

Jason Johannisen (196)*

Joining the Dogs as part of the 2010 AFL Rookie Draft, ‘JJ’ has become a much-loved figure around Mission Whitten Oval.

The 2016 Norm Smith Medallist has forged a career as a crafty, hard-running, and reliable player. Despite a frustrating 2024 season hampered by injury, the 32-year-old will be looking to hit the ground running in 2025 and reach his milestone as early as Round 4 against Fremantle.

150 Games:

Aaron Naughton (143) and Tim English (131)**

Two of the tall timbers in the red, white and blue, both Aaron Naughton and Tim English will look to celebrate their 150th games in 2025.

With 35 goals to his name in 2024, Naughton is also on track to kick his 250th career goal during the season.

On the back of signing a five-year contract extension in 2024, English is likely to play his milestone game later in the year when the Dogs take on the Bombers in Round 20.

50 Games:

Sam Darcy (28) and Buku Khamis (27)**

These two young Dogs are on track to hit their first career milestones in 2025.

Darcy, who signed a long-term contract extension to remain at Mission Whitten Oval until 2029, can reach the milestone in Round 23 against the Eagles.

Khamis, the Club’s first Next Generation Academy recruit, won’t be far behind his teammate—likely to reach his milestone game one week later in the final game of the regular season.
