Western Bulldogs ruckman Will Minson is hopeful he can experience finals football before his career is over, after signing a new two-year contract extension with the Dogs.
The All-Australian would have become a free agent at the end of 2014, but decided to put pen to paper, in his bid to become a one-club player.
Minson says the club is full of optimism and takes plenty of confidence from the improvements it made in the second half of 2013.
"We're premiership favourites this time of year like every other club, and we're unbeaten, so it's a good place to be," Minson joked on Friday.
"I hope success happens during my time here. We're trying to build a footy club that's going to be sustainable and have long-term success. Everyone's working towards that, and I hope it comes as soon as possible.
"I think I've always wanted to be a one-club player. I don't think there's too many players out there, besides maybe Ben Hudson, who want to be a five-club player.
"I love the footy club. I've been here from age 17, four days after school finished, and I'm looking forward to continuing that."
Without a broad leadership group behind new captain Ryan Griffen, Minson knows he needs to set an example to younger teammates. It will be interesting to how that plays out.
"My effectiveness as a role model could be questioned because nobody's into jazz, there aren't enough raw foodists, and nobody wears a shirt with a collar other than me," Minson said with a smile.
"Maybe I need to work on the leadership aspect."
