Brett Goodes successfully underwent surgery yesterday, after fracturing in his forearm during the Western Bulldogs clash against Hawthorn on Saturday.
Bulldogs Medical Services Manager Andrew Mckenzie said the injury will see the dogged defender restricted to the sidelines for the remainder of his debut season.
“Goodesy fractured his forearm and he had the operation yesterday which plated the injury,”
“He’s been discharged from hospital today and he is recovering at home.”
Clay Smith is also in recovery after undergoing knee reconstructive surgery to fix a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament last week.
“Clay had his ACL reconstructed last week and everything went well,” he said.
“There were no other complications in the knees, so it was as good as possible.”
Captain Matthew Boyd, however, is firmly in the selection mix ahead of the West Coast Eagles and will return to full training this week.
“Boydy will be in full training this week without restriction, so we are happy for him to get going [and] he will be available,” he said.
Easton Wood also made gains in his rehabilitation program, completing his second match for Williamstown in the development league.
“Easton got through his second game – he got through more volume and higher running speeds
We are happy with where he is at, he has recovered well,” he said.
2012 draftee Josh Prudden has endured a setback in his recovery but McKenzie said they expect him to resume training in one week.
“Josh had a small setback in his rehab but we think he is about a week away, he should be training soon, so hopefully that goes ahead,” he said.
