Newly appointed Senior Assistant Coach Brett Montgomery credits his shift into strategy and opposition analysis for broadening his scope and furthering his development as a coach.
Montgomery will have a number of added responsibilities as part of the new role but one opportunity that he is excited about is further educating the football IT department so they can see the game through a coach’s eyes.

“[I’m] taking over some responsibility in the IT department and managing those guys through, so they start to see the game the way our coaches do,” Montgomery said.
“We are educating our guys in a holistic way.
“That’s nice for the Club to get on the same page and it assists us and maybe I am the conduit between coaching and other areas.”
Montgomery said his time at the kennel has helped mould him into a well-rounded and educated football person, as he continues his coaching apprenticeship.
But what excites him most is the chance to contribute and help build on the development of the emerging crop of players.
“This is a fantastic footy program that I am now privy to and adding to,” he said.
“I speak on behalf of a lot of people here, when we come to work, staff and players, we are all excited about where we are going.
“I think as supporters we should be really excited about the young group of guys we are starting to assemble and the mature heads that are starting to guide them.”
