Season Overview:
Jarrad Grant had a sporadic year in season 2012, completing a mid-season tailor made weights program to put on some bulk, which to his credit, helped add a new contested element to his game. Kicking 12 goals in 13 games, Grant found himself playing across all areas of the ground in a more team-oriented role, using his athleticism to run and chase opponents and assist where needed. The base that he set in 2012 should put him in good stead for a big season next year.

By the Numbers:
Grant may not have recreated his form of 2010 in terms of numbers, but there are a number of key statistics that demonstrate he is making headway in his new role. A personal best nine, one percenters illustrates his shift in focus to be a more rounded player for his teammates. Grant averaged almost two more one percenters per game this season than last year. He also found almost three more disposals, took more marks on average (+0.5), and had 11 rebound 50s (his previous record was 8 in a season where he played 20 games).

Season Highlight:
While round 23 against Geelong saw the 23 year old earn the label of super-sub with three goals in less than half a game of footy, his best full four quarters was in round 17 against Carlton. After an extended time on the sidelines, Grant came into the game with fresh legs to collect 18 disposals at 83% disposal efficiency. His influence in the forward line was impressive which helped keep the Bulldogs in the game. He kicked two goals, took eight marks, and had three inside 50s.

Pre-Season Focus:
Grant will continue to focus on bulking up and keeping the weight on over this pre-season. He has made strides in his contested ball work this year but more drills over the Summer will help in making the new style more instinctive.
