It was one of the more bizarre moments of the season so far, when an Adelaide fan reached over the fence and gave Western Bulldogs captain Easton Wood a slap on the behind just before the half time siren on Friday night.
Channel 7’s cameras caught the incident, and the Dogs captain looked equal parts surprised and annoyed. He spoke to Game Day about the moment on Sunday.
“I didn’t say anything, (and) I certainly wasn’t hurt or anything like that,” he said.
"I was a bit surprised. My preference would be to able to go to work and not get slapped on the arse by a complete stranger."
The incident did spark some debate about contact between players and fans, although Wood was happy to move on.
“I’ll be fine but hopefully it doesn’t happen again.”
