What it means
There has been a lot of external noise surrounding the Kennel this week after a disappointing loss to Essendon, with a win against the Saints sure to silence some of the criticism. As coach Luke Beveridge put it in his weekly press conference yesterday, there is “a firm belief within our club that we’re more than capable”. The challenge of finding consistency and winning momentum will start tomorrow night for the Dogs.

Who to watch
With Tom Liberatore out through concussion protocols, Jack Macrae looks set for added minutes inside this week. The 29-year-old has played three games this season – including round four as the starting sub – to record an average of 17 disposals and four marks. It might be well off his career averages, but could return to some of that form on Thursday night. Macrae collected 25 touches in defeat against the Saints last year.
Vandermeer on track for half-century
Utility Laith Vandermeer is on track to reach the 50-game milestone tomorrow night. The 25-year-old has played every match to start this season, following 11 matches in 2023. Surprisingly, of his 49 matches to date he has only played one against St Kilda - which just so happened to be his AFL debut.
