The Western Bulldogs have strengthened their 2025 VFLW squad with the additions of defensive stalwart Sarah Sansonetti and returning midfielder Brianna McFarlane, as they set their sights on going one step further after their 2024 Grand Final run. 

Sansonetti, a composed defender with 39 AFLW games across Richmond and Collingwood, arrives at Mission Whitten Oval to fortify the Bulldogs' backline following her departure from the Magpies in 2024.  

Meanwhile, McFarlane, a former Bulldogs AFLW midfielder with 12 games across two seasons, returns in 2025, bringing familiarity and firepower to the competitive squad. 

The Bulldogs will be led by captain Steph Asciak, whose rapid midfield rise has earned her the role.

She’ll be joined by key contributors Amelia Klingbeil, who impressed with 17 games in her debut Dogs’ season after joining from Carlton VFLW, and Jaimi Tabb, a standout in the 2024 VFLW Team of the Year; averaging 13.9 disposals per game. 

Klingbeil will become the veteran of the squad and most seasoned, with 65 VFLW career games. 

Depth and versatility will be key in 2025, with Trinity Skenderis, Ellie Bishop, Freya Taylor, and Jorja Livingstone all returning to play important roles, while the dynamic London Ashcroft adds intrigue to the Bulldogs' half-forward line. 

With a strengthened squad, a determined leadership group, and a hunger for success, the Bulldogs will kick off their 2025 campaign on Sunday 20 April.
