On the 7th October 2010 the Western Bulldogs held their 5th annual Multicultural Schools Cup, at J.R. Parsons Reserve in Sunshine.

Schools that are involved in the Multicultural Schools Football Program (MSFP) are given a 5 week football clinic, which introduces them to the game of Australian Football. The program is run with the help of Victoria University Pre-service teachers. The Multicultural Schools Cup is an opportunity for all schools that have been part of the MSFP, to come together and showcase the skills that they have learnt, in a fun and safe environment.

It was a great, sunny day and the grades 5 and 6 students all showed up eager to take home the Multicultural Schools Cup trophy. Most of the students had never participated in an Australian Football tournament, and for some it was the only opportunity they had, had to participate in inter-school sport this year.

Some great skills were shown on the day, with both boys and girls actively participating in the event, Albion Junior Football Club were also there to support and students are now keen to join up to the successful club.

The schools that participated in the day were: Dinjerra Primary, Ardeer Primary, Mother of God Primary, St Albans Primary, St Albans Heights Primary, St Andrews Primary, Footscray Primary and Glengala Primary.
Well done to all schools and students!

All games were extremely close, but two schools stood out all day, St Albans Primary and St Andrews Primary- with the boy’s Premiers being St Albans Primary School, and the girls Premiers St Andrews.

Harmony Awards were also given to students that displayed Sportsmanship, Teamwork, Leadership and Fair play throughout the program and on the day.
Both St Albans and St Andrews now go on to the State Multicultural Cup to represent the Western Bulldogs.

Well done to all Schools and good luck to St Albans and St Andrews!
