The Footscray Bulldogs have confirmed their list for the 2022 Smithy’s VFL season, which will kick off this Friday 25 March at VU Whitten Oval.

The Bulldogs have added a number of fresh faces to their squad, while retaining majority of their players from last year.

Headlining the returning group is 2021 captain Lachie Sullivan, alongside Nathan Drummond, Charlie Cormack, Bailey Van De Heuvel, Ewan Macpherson and Dan Orgill to name a few.

Former Port Adelaide defender Joel Garner has been added to the list, while Josh Patullo returns to the ‘Scray after stints with Sturt (SANFL) and Frankston YCW.

Charlie MacIsaac, Joshua Chatfield, Luke Goater and Jamieson Ballantyne are some new faces joining the red, white and blue.

Since last season, reigning best and fairest winner Robbie McComb was elevated to the Bulldogs’ AFL list, while Jordan Boyd was picked up by Carlton in the 2021 AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft.

Next Generation Academy graduate Cody Raak was also drafted as a rookie, joining 2019 Footscray best-and-fairest winner Anthony Scott who signed during the Pre-Season Supplemental Period (SSP) last March.

McComb and Scott are two of four players on the Bulldogs’ senior list to have been drafted via the state-league pathway, alongside former VFL Dogs Ryan Gardner and Mitch Hannan.

2021 VFL Coach of the Year Stewart Edge will be at the helm once again, as he looks to extend his 10-game winning streak into 2022.

Footscray will open the season against Sydney Swans this Friday afternoon at 4.35pm AEDT. Gates will open from 3.30pm, with tickets available for pre-purchase here.

Further information can be found in our VFL Match-Day Hub.
