1. Marra’s moment
It was the longest wait for a number one draft pick in 32 years, but on Sunday afternoon, Jamarra Ugle-Hagan will finally get his chance at AFL level.
He’s had to bide his time in the VFL since arriving at the Kennel, slotting 13 goals from seven games this season.
Ugle-Hagan will be the first Indigenous Bulldog since Joel Hamling in the 2016 Grand Final win.
It’s only fitting too that he’ll debut on the final day of NAIDOC week, and against his childhood idol Buddy Franklin – who he’s drawn comparisons to in the early stages of his career.
Go well, Marra.
2. 150 for Bevo
The Bulldogs have already celebrated five 150-game milestone men this season.
There was Tom Liberatore in round two, skipper Marcus Bontempelli in round five, Jason Johannisen in round eight, Lachie Hunter in round 14, and most recently Taylor Duryea last weekend against North.
This time around, it’s the coach himself who’ll notch up his 150th game at the helm.
Since taking charge in 2015, Luke Beveridge has led the Bulldogs to 86 wins with a 57.72% success rate – with arguably his most famous win being against the Swans in the 2016 Grand Final.
Congratulations, coach. Let’s hope Sunday will be one to remember for all the right reasons.
3. Sunday best
For the third consecutive week, the Bulldogs will take to the field on Sunday afternoon.
In total, it’ll be their sixth Sunday outing of the season – taking home the four points on each of those occasions.
The Dogs’ recent history against the Swans also falls in their favour, having won four of their past six encounters.
Both teams look quite different from the last time they met though, which was back in round four last season in a low-scoring affair at the SCG.
4. Tim vs Tom
Another game, another match-up.
This time, we’re looking at the ruck battle between emerging ruck-forward Tim English and four-club veteran Tom Hickey.
English has featured in 11 games this season, missing rounds seven through ten with concussion.
He’s attended 427 ruck contests for the Bulldogs, winning 34.4% of his 147 hit-outs.
On the other side, Hickey has attended 869 contests from 13 games, registering 282 hit-outs at an average winning rate of 32.5%.
