Western Bulldogs’ young guns Isabel Huntington, Eleanor Brown and Jess Fitzgerald have been named in the 2021 AFLW 22under22 team.
It is a second consecutive honour for Huntington (forward), and maiden selections for Brown (defender) and Fitzgerald (interchange).
Huntington finished the season as the Bulldogs’ leading goalkicker (12), and was the league’s best contested marker (21).
The 22-year-old was also named in the 2021 AFLW All Australian squad of 40 players.
Brown enjoyed a breakout season in 2021, averaging career-best numbers in disposals (11), tackles (4.6) and marks (3.1).
The 21-year-old led the Bulldogs for intercept possessions (58) and received a NAB Rising Star nomination in round nine.
She was also the 10th most popular player to be chosen, selected in 74% of fan-voted teams.
Fitzgerald arrived at the Kennel with pick number 2 in last year’s AFLW National Draft, and did not miss a game in 2021.
The 19-year-old averaged 10.1 touches and 4.1 tackles in her debut AFLW season, while also picking up a NAB Rising Star nomination in round two.
With three players selected, the Bulldogs were one of the most-represented teams in the final 22under22 line-up, alongside Brisbane (three players) and Collingwood (three players).
The 22under22 is a fan-voted concept that recognises the best 22 players aged 22 and under – who have played five or more games - during the AFLW season.
