Western Bulldogs midfielder Mitch Wallis praised his side for wrestling their match against North Melbourne back on their terms.
It was a tight opening half, with only eight goals kicked between the two sides, the Bulldogs kicked nine goals in the second half to run away with a 23-point victory.
“We fought really well today, it was a four quarter effort, we really stuck it out and got the chocolates in the end,” said Wallis post-match.
“When you stick to task and you’re persistent in what you believe in, it will come to the fore and that did, so we were really happy with our efforts to play the game on our terms.”
Wallis was one to lead the charge, picking up 31 disposals, 14 of those contested at 83 per cent efficiency.
The midfielder continued his run of form and notched up nine clearances and three tackles.
“Like the team, it took me a while to get going but once you’ve got the confidence up and once I started working with my teammates, it sort of flowed from there.
“It was a really good team effort, I didn’t think we had too many standouts today which was really pleasing going into the last round of the AFL season.”
The Bulldogs have now secured a place in the top eight, with round 23 to determine final ladder positions and Wallis said his side was excited about the challenge ahead.
“We can mention it (finals) because we’re going to be there, and we’re going to light it up.”
