Western Bulldogs midfielder Jackson Macrae has finished equal fifth in the AFL Coaches Association Champion Player of the Year Award for 2018.
Macrae finished behind Melbourne ruckman Max Gawn, who won the award with 97 votes.
Carlton’s Patrick Cripps (second with 91 votes), Hawthorn’s Tom Mitchell (88 votes) and Collingwood’s Brodie Grundy (82 votes) finished above Macrae.
24-year-old Macrae, who polled a maximum 10 AFLCA votes in Round 23, tied with Brisbane’s Dayne Beams and Melbourne’s Clayton Oliver on 72 votes.
Macrae has averaged 32.8 disposals and 5.8 tackles from his 19 games this season – missing three games due to a hamstring injury.
He has led the Dogs’ contested possessions and clearances, and is ranked ninth in the AFL for disposals.
