The Western Bulldogs have secured their third win of the VFLW season, defeating Geelong by 22-points this Saturday at Mars Stadium.
Keeping the Cats scoreless for the first three quarters, the Dogs’ defence was first class, with Libby Birch and Naomi Ferres putting another strong performance out on the park.
First gamer Mickayla Ward was influential in the forward line and booted two early goals, while AFLW vice-captain Ellie Blackburn kicked a major of her own at the opening of the second term.
VFLW coach Debbie Lee told the Ballarat Courier that she was prepared for the undefeated Cats to bring a strong performance to Mars.
“We just tried to concentrate on our game,” Lee said.
“We knew we were on a big ground up in Ballarat, so it was about how we moved the footy and how we kept the forward line open, so we concentrated on that during the week and I think it showed.”
The Dogs will face Melbourne Uni this Saturday 8th July, at Melbourne University (main oval).
