Despite being the youngest team in the League over the first three weeks of the season, Western Bulldogs CEO Ameet Bains says the Club is putting no ceiling on what the group can achieve in 2018.

The Dogs have averaged 30 games less per player than the competition average over the first three rounds, and are fresh of an impressive 21-point win over Essendon on the weekend.

But the combination of fast-developing youngsters and experienced players set to return in coming months, Bains is optimistic about the group’s prospects.  

“As the season evolves itself, we do hope we get some experience back,” he told SEN on Thursday morning.

“Obviously guys like Dale Morris and Liam Picken are very experienced guys that are still at the club and were important parts of the 2016 premiership win, so I hope those guys return.

“There’s some realities in how you manage it, but I think the overarching approach around striving for the sky is still the case.”

The Dogs return to Etihad Stadium on Saturday afternoon to take on the Sydney Swans, and Bains said he’s looking for the side to bring the same level of competitiveness they showed against the Bombers last week.

“Ultimately you just want the guys from a performance, intensity and competitive point of view to just do their best each week and with the personnel we have got, that should take us a long way.”
