His involvement in the sub-committee responsible for appointing Brendan McCartney reignited Grant’s desire to return to the Bulldogs officially.

“The reason why I would like to get involved now is it is a great opportunity with a new senior coach and a new direction with a great group of blokes to get involved and get behind,” Grant said.

“I was obviously involved in the selection committee selecting a new senior coach… and I think it gave me a passion back for being involved in a football club.

“It is a different position than I have ever held at a football club… but I am really looking forward to the challenge and can’t wait to get my teeth into it.”

His appointment as Football Director aims to facilitate a higher level of communication between the football department and the Board of Directors.
Grant is grateful for the opportunity, replacing outgoing Board Director Henry Jolson QC who has retired after serving the maximum nine year term.

“I would really like to say a big thankyou to Henry for the time and effort that he has put into the football club over the last nine years,” Grant said.

“He is a true bulldog person and we should really thank him for his time and effort.

“While he is vacating the board, he is going to be a bulldog for life.”

Grant played 341 games for the Bulldogs in an AFL career that saw him gain All Australian selection on three occasions. He was also awarded the Charles Sutton Medal twice as Bulldogs' Best & Fairest.

He sits second on the Bulldogs' all-time games list behind Brad Johnson and captained the side

Current Community Director Gaye Hamilton was also reappointed in her role on the Board which she has held since December 2005.
