Once again we are joined by Williamstown Coach Peter German to discuss another big win on the weekend for the Seagulls.  Peter thanks for joining us, what are your thoughts on the performance?

It was one of those games where you are facing a side that will be physical, so as much as I was happy with the win I was a little disappointed with how we finished the game off.  We played for time late in the game, which can be difficult to avoid when you know the result at ¾ time, but we are still trying to teach the players that the focus of their performances is not controlled by the scoreboard but by the role they need to play for 4 quarters.

At the end of the day though we took some strong positives out of the game.

Have you been happy with the response since the loss to Bendigo 2 weeks ago?

We faced the same kind of conditions really.  It was quite difficult at times, it was fine early and then it really blew up, then it became slippery and windy all in one day.

We have not played particularly well at times when it has been windy this year so it was a good chance for us to put into place some of our structures.

Now Dylan Addison has picked up 35 touches, you must have been happy with his performance?

The style of the game was tailor made for him, there were a lot of stoppages that were tight and tough.  We know Dylan has that real hardness about him and he stood up with a strong game.

It was really pleasing because he has been emergency for the last couple of weeks so it’s good to see him put his hand up again.

Patrick Rose has kicked 20 goals in the last 4 weeks, you must be happy with his progress?

Early on Patty was playing on ball which obviously restricted his time up forward.  But in the last month or so we have moved him closer to goal and we know that is where he plays well.

His has a great ability to be able to find the goals.

How did you see Christian Howard’s game?

Christian was obviously our first pick in last year’s Draft and he is making some good inroads despite his limited preparation earlier in the year.

How about Eddie Prato?

Eddie had his first game in the ruck, he is our developing ruckman and he has shown at times that he has some really strong attributes.

He probably needs another pre season to hone his skills but it was a good experience for him and it will hopefully accelerate his learning ahead of next year.

Good to hear, as was Mitch Hahn’s performance.

Mitch was really good across half forward, especially in the dry conditions of the first half where the ball was moving around a bit quicker.

He read the play really well, took some good marks and kicked a couple of terrific goals.

I would think it will give him some confidence moving forward.

And how about Andrew Hooper?

He has bounced back after a disappointing performance a couple of weeks ago and his last two games have been really good.

He has played a little bit more up the ground and his clearance work has been great.  ‘Hoops’ played a bit on ball as a junior and he has been really good for us.

Fantastic and it was a better performance from Josh Hill also.

Yeah Josh seemed to play with a bit more confidence which allowed him to find himself in better positions to utilise his talents.

A couple of his crumbing goals really showed the talent he has and he has to continue to work hard to put himself in the right spot and use that talent.

We were pretty pleased with his game.

Anyone else we are forgetting?

Well Lukas Markovic was solid and Tim Callan has not had a bad game at all this year, he has just been ultra consistent.

Matthew Panos kicked 1 and set up a couple, he can be very creative when he gets the ball in his hands.  He can be pretty selfless at times and maybe needs to be a little bit more selfish and take the shot but he was really good.

And in the seconds Jamason Daniels and Jason Tutt both picked up about 30 possessions each which was pleasing.

Jarrad Boumann also played seconds and he will need to work hard to make it back into the side.  He has the makeup of a really good player, but he needs to learn that the rewards come from hard work and not talent alone.

He took some steps on the weekend and hopefully he can force his way back into the first team before the Finals.

And finally what are your thoughts going into the Box Hill game?

It’s the last game against the Hawks and we know they are really starting to hit their straps.  They could easily be in the top four if it was not for a lot of injuries at Hawthorn earlier in the year.

For us it is a bit of an early Final because we can get an indication of who is ready for Finals footy.

We will certainly be coming out all guns blazing.

Great stuff Peter and thanks again for taking time out to give us the inside word on our boys in the VFL.  I look forward to catching up again next week and good luck on the weekend...Go Dogs!
