The Williamstown Football Club welcomes the State Government’s announcement yesterday that they have committed $10 million to upgrade VFL clubs facilities across the state. Our club is thrilled that as part of the $10 million, Williamstown Football Club will receive the largest allocation of $3 million to assist in the planned re-development of Pt Gellibrand Oval.

Undoubtedly this funding clearly illustrates John Brumby’s Labor Government’s ongoing commitment to the Victorian Football League and its member clubs.

The Williamstown Football and Cricket Clubs have been committed to this redevelopment for an extended period and we wish to sincerely thank the Minister for Sport and Recreation Mr James Merlino and our local members Martin Pakula MLC, Member for Western Metro and Wade Noonan MP, Member for Williamstown.

In particular Wade Noonan’s commitment and desire to achieve this level of funding has been outstanding and both clubs sincerely thank him.

The planned redevelopment of Pt Gellibrand will include significant funding from the City of Hobsons Bay Council, AFL Victoria and the Williamstown Football Club. We also would like to thank the officers within both Council and AFL Victoria for their assistance thus far and we look forward to working together in the future to establish a community facility which we can all enjoy and utilise.

The new planned facility will be a huge boost to the Williamstown community and we look forward to consulting with the Community to deliver a facility we can all be proud of.
