WESTERN Bulldogs midfielder Brodie Moles has his sights set on a round one debut after being officially promoted to the senior list this week.

The 24-year-old is rapt to finally be eligible to play football at the highest level after being elevated for the injured Christian Howard this week.

"I was in a squad at the Cats for round 16 last year but I was never promoted because I was playing okay footy in the VFL," the former Geelong rookie told westernbulldogs.com.au.

"I'm just really excited and hopefully I'll get picked to play against Collingwood in round one."

After playing two pre-season games as a substitute for Geelong, Moles got the opportunity to play all four this season in his first year as a Bulldog.

His best game came against Hawthorn in the second week where he had 19 touches and kicked a goal.

"It progressed week by week. I honestly wasn't expecting much," he said.

"I was expecting one or two games and we kept winning and I managed to hold my spot.

"To win a NAB Cup premiership was just great. I wasn't used to the crowd - it took me a half to get used to that and the pace of the game, which had stepped up from previous weeks."

Coach Rodney Eade said Moles would give the Bulldogs midfield options given their recent spate of minor injuries.

"We weren't going to elevate anyone unless we needed to and we don't know if he'll get to play in round one," he said.

"It's certainly reward for his hard efforts and he's been embraced by the players for his hard work ethic.

"He's shown his talent and he has fit into our systems and structures very well and it gives him a good chance of playing in round one."

Moles, who considered returning to his previous job as a greenkeeper in October last year, said his unexpected second chance was a blessing.

"Now I've had the chance to show I can play and it's given me this opportunity, which is fantastic," he said.

"I just hope my body holds up. I've had a good pre-season. In previous years I've been injured a bit so I'm just rapt to be injury-free and on the list."
