Diabetes research is a cause close to the heart of Western Bulldogs Board Member Susan Alberti and from one Bulldog to another she’s urging all members and fans to join her in the ‘Walk to Cure Diabetes.’

Mrs Alberti lost her daughter to complications of type one diabetes 10 years ago, with her loss inspiring her to work towards finding a cure for the disease.

‘The Walk to Cure Diabetes’ will be held on two days, this Sunday morning (October 23) at Albert Park and next Thursday evening (October 27) at Federation Square.

The walks are 4.7km and 4km in length respectively.

“I founded the Walk because I wanted to make it possible for everyone to be part of support for medical research into type 1 diabetes,” said Dr Alberti.

“Every single donation - large or small - helps the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation to support Australian medical research to deliver a better life for people with type 1 diabetes and ultimately, a cure.”

All members of the Bulldogs community are encouraged to join Dr Alberti at either walk events, or support her fundraising efforts.
