The Western Bulldogs are proud to join forces with the Northern Territory’s (NT) Centralian Middle School for Reboot2012 - an initiative to kit out communities in remote NT with as many footy boots as possible, while simultaneously promoting positive health and lifestyle choices.
The group of students who are the driving force behind Reboot2012 will visit Whitten Oval to collect a number of donated boots as well as participate in leadership talks and a football clinic with Nathan Djerrkura and Zephaniah Skinner.
The students will learn about the importance of education and goal setting, and will also be educated on the importance of having leaders within their community, and how the players use leadership on and off the field.
What initially started as a school project in a year 9 classroom has quickly built momentum to become a nationwide charitable drive to level the playing field and promote living a healthy lifestyle to those in remote communities.
Centralian Middle School students know firsthand that kids from outback NT love their footy but often are forced to play on rocky services with bare feet - their solution is to collect old, outgrown boots from around Australia to donate back to the rural communities.
There will be drop off bins located in Victoria at Bunnings Warehouses at Broadmeadows and Northland for anyone interested in donating old footy boots for this worthy cause - the only criteria is they must still be wearable.
