Williamstown have reinstated their top 4 credentials with a clinical 59-point victory over old foe the Coburg Tigers at Whitten Oval on Sunday.

The desperation of the Seagulls outfit was evident early coming off the back of two consecutive losses to Port Melbourne and South Adelaide in the Foxtel Cup respectively.

From the opening bounce Williamstown dominated proceedings, kicking 8 goals to 2 in the opening quarter - breaking the game open in the early stages with their speed around the ground and their clean ball-use dissecting their opposition.

The second term began in a similar fashion with the Seagulls pace and spread resulting in the first two goals of the contest.

Coburg were quick to answer with the next three goals, gaining control of the contested ball in a solid attempt to work their way back into the game.

The away team could not maintain possession with the Seagulls regaining momentum through a sequence of handpasses out of the back half resulting in debutant Anthony Anastasio finishing with a goal.

Eager to extend their 31 point buffer after the main change, the Seagulls played some of their most comprehensive footy all year spotting up targets and kicking the first 5 goals of the third quarter.

Coburg again kicked the next 3 goals of the game cutting the margin back to 37-points, but a goal from Lin Jong later in the quarter ultimately dampened their efforts and ensured the game was beyond reach.

Going into the last term with the a decisive lead, Williamstown refused to get complacent and with expert clearance work and precision passing ensuring they extended their lead and ended the contest with a dominant 22.9. 141 to 12.10 .82 win.

Anthony Anastasio impressed on debut with a five goal haul, while Lin Jong was hugely impressive, taking the game on with his athleticism and adding two goals of his own.

Williamstown's next competitive fixture comes up against Bendigo Gold at Windy Hill on Saturday the 2nd of June.

Meanwhile four Williamstown players have been named in the 26 man VFL squad to take on the Tasmanian State League squad this Saturday at Blundstone Arena, Hobart.
