WESTERN Bulldogs forward Zephaniah Skinner is among the many indigenous players to have found the transition to city life very tough.

Skinner, who hails from a remote community in Western Australia, initially found life in Melbourne so hard that he considered heading back home for good.

The Bulldogs' wellbeing manager Brett Goodes, the brother of Swans champion Adam Goodes, can take much credit for enticing Skinner to give AFL footy another go.

But while Goodes has been a tremendous support for the 22-year-old, Skinner's love of music has been the key factor in his renewed commitment to the club.

In a story exclusive to AFL.com.au, we caught up with Skinner and his indigenous teammates Nathan Djerrkura and Liam Jones while they were having a jam session at Djerrkura's house near the Whitten Oval.

For Skinner, Djerrkura and Jones, who come from all corners of Australia, music has helped them develop a lasting friendship.

And as you'll see, it's not just on the footy field that the boys can seriously play.
