Coach Rodney Eade talks about the club's five selections in the 2010 NAB AFL Rookie Draft

Draft summary

"We were planning on mostly younger, developing players, which is what we got. It's a good mix.

"In the main draft (in November), three of the players we got were running, carrying-the-football, good kicks, and now we've got a mixture.

"We've got an experienced player we know can play, a tall developing ruckman, a tall developing forward who made All Australian in the state championships, and we've got Andrew Hooper who can play small forward or small back."

Player comments
Selection No.19: Brodie Moles
DOB: 7/11/85, Height: 183cm, Weight: 84kg
Recruited from: Glenorchy/Tasmania Under 18s/Tasmania VFL/Geelong
"We were hopeful he'd still be there at 19 as an experienced player that can play in the midfield, even though we've got a pretty strong midfield. If we get injuries, there's a player there we know has good run and skills. Last season he played as a centre square player and made the VFL team of the year, and he can also play half back flank, half forward flank and wing as well."

Selection No.35: Andrew Hooper
DOB: 18/01/91, Height: 172cm, Weight: 78kg
Recruited from: Golden Point/North Ballarat Rebels
"He's got good pace and good agility. He tested very well at the draft camp and he's got a good attitude. Players off the rookie list that succeed are ones willing to work the place down, and we're pleased with him."

Selection No.48: Matthew Panos
DOB: 25/01/91, Height: 192cm, Weight: 85kg
Recruited from: Rostrevor College/Norwood
"We just didn't think he'd be there. We thought he would have gone in the main draft. As a developing forward, we think we can put time and effort into him."

Selection No.59: Eddie Prato
DOB: 15/01/90, Height: 202cm, Weight: 92kg
Recruited from: Maryborough
"He's a developing ruckman. He's six foot eight, he's a great athlete from a basketball background who needs to play a lot more footy. He's not going to play for a couple of years but John Barnes (Bulldogs' ruck coach) is very excited about his jumping ability and ability to palm the ball. Even though he's raw, there's a lot of talent there."

Selection No.68: Patrick Rose
DOB: 10/06/86, Height: 183cm, Weight: 82kg
Recruited from: Williamstown
"He's been training with us and he's worked extremely hard. He's played as a forward at Williamstown but we told him before he trained with us he needed to prove he could play in the midfield, and he's taken that on board. He's a natural footballer, has good skills and we hope he can grab his chances. We hope he can do the same as what Liam Picken has done this year."
