The Western Bulldogs are confident that the smaller SCG ground will be conducive to their contested brand of football when they face Sydney Swans on Sunday afternoon.

Currently ranked 2nd in the league for contested ball the Bulldogs will hope to continue in that vain as they take on Sydney who know how to play to their advantage on the smaller ground, according to running defender Patrick Veszpremi.

Watch Patrick Veszpremi on the media player above or the Club App tell BulldogsTV about the prospect of facing his former side this Sunday at the SCG.

“They are going to be a hard team to play against as Sydney are always a tough team at the SCG,” Veszpremi said.

“They know how to play the ground really well and they are a really well drilled team - It is going to be a hard game but I am looking forward to it.

“I think we are up there in the contested footy so that is going to be one of the key factors at the SCG - smaller ground, so more contested footy.”

Veszpremi was traded to the Bulldogs via Sydney in 2010 and while he will come up against some of his old team mates for the first time in the Red, White and Blue he stresses that it will not affect his preparations in the lead up.

“I am looking forward to it like every week, you are looking forward to the challenge,” he said.

“I know a few of the boys up there but that is not going to change anything or the way I prepare this week and the way that we prepare as a team.”

Teammate versatile key position Jordan Roughead believes the Dogs are well prepared to compete for the contested ball against Sydney and that the team is on track to come away with the four points.

“Something we are priding ourselves on at the moment is the contested footy - we are going alright in the department and I think we will really going to have to again,” Roughead said.

“Sydney like to play that congested style of footy, so we're going to have to get our hands on it inside.

“We've got some good young talent who are starting to win the footy in there and that's something that's going to really help us take our game forward.

“We want to go in every week and win - we are not aiming to lose so it is about taking what we can from every game but putting in the right processes to win games of footy
