NAB AFL Rising Star nominee Luke Dahlhaus and Josh Hill will come into the Western Bulldogs side set to face Hawthorn on Saturday at the MCG.

Dahlhaus missed last Sunday's win over Port Adelaide with general soreness, while Hill has not played seniors since round 17 against North Melbourne.

They will replace Nathan Djerrkura, who is sore, and Christian Howard, who has been omitted.

"Dahlhaus was a late withdrawal last week; [he] didn't quite get up for the game and he's trained fully during the week and we know he's going to be right to play," caretaker coach Paul Williams told Bulldogs TV on Thursday night.

"Hill, his form has been really pleasing, and personally, I can't wait to see what Josh brings. It's a new lease on life for him and we know what sort of talent he's got."

Williams has also given Ayce Cordy and Jason Tutt a second game after their AFL debuts last week, and will persist with former Sydney Swan Patrick Veszpremi, who played his first game for the Dogs against the Power.

"Last week, we saw Roughead in the ruck by himself. Cordy helped him a little bit but there were a lot of positive signs for young Roughead," he said.

"It's been well documented about Jason Tutt. We know what he brings to the table, we know he's got a really big tank and he's got a beautiful leg on him.

"It's a good challenge for him, along with all the team, against the Hawks this week."

Williams said when he took on the caretaker coaching role he wasn't going to "reinvent the wheel" with the team over the final three games but would tweak things here and there.

He said he was happy with the way the players handled his minor alterations last week for most of the game, and had learned from that experience ahead of the big clash with the Hawks.

"Defensively we set up a little bit different and it was a lot more demanding for the player group and we were very happy with the way they went for three quarters," he said.

"The last quarter was a little bit disappointing and we ran out of legs a little bit.

"We tried a couple of things that didn't work, but learning from that, we're really looking forward to the challenge against the Hawks this week."
