Proud Bulldog finds his feet on home soil
All done in the name of charity...
All done in the name of charity, Michael, an avid Western Bulldogs supporter, began “The Great Australian Cancer Bush Walk” on 5th May 2008, with the hope of raising public awareness to the plight of Cancer sufferers Australia wide and attempting to boost donations to The Cancer Council.
When asked where the motivation came from to complete the walk, Michael comments that “from inspiration, came an inspiration”. After years of seeing close family and friends touched by this too often deadly disease fight for their lives Michael wanted to do something to ease the suffering.
Both he and his adoring wife Margaret commented that no matter how far and wide Michael travelled on the walk, he couldn’t escape stories from those affected in some way by cancer's devastating touch.
Michael is currently visiting schools as a guest speaker and sharing his experiences.
Beginning at ‘The Tip’ of Australia- Cape York and finishing at Wilsons Promontory Michael bush walked a total of 6022km, an incredibly long way to travel to deliver a very simple message; Give to the Cancer Council and you will be helping someone you know.
