Key defender Tom Williams is poised to play his first senior game in 2012 when the Western Bulldogs challenge Hawthorn on Sunday at Etihad Stadium, while Robert Murphy has also been named to return from injury.

Adding to the Bulldogs’ defensive depth is Ryan Hargrave who makes a return to the Club’s back six, while Patrick Veszpremi, Daniel Pearce and Jarrad Grant have been added to an extended interchange bench. 
 
Williams has been given the all clear by medical staff after being sidelined for the entirety of the home and away season to date rehabilitating a pre-season shoulder injury.

The 25 year-old endured the devastating blow during the Bulldogs NAB Cup campaign, going down in the opening minutes against Carlton.
 
Playing for Wiliamstown in the VFL the past two weeks, the match committee have been pleased with his form and progress and have rewarded him with the call-up.

After missing last week through injury Murphy has made a quicker than anticipated recovery, to re-join the senior ranks. His experience, silky skills and class will be welcome addition off half-back.
 
Impressing for VFL affiliate Williamstown, Veszpremi, Pearce and Grant have continued to press their claim for senior selection and are in the mix with teams finalised Friday afternoon.
 
Assistant Coach Steven King said the three forced changes due to injury have paved the way for the more experienced campaigners to return to the starting lineup.

“UnfortunatelyTom Campbell, Mark Austin and Easton Wood have all pulled up sore from the weekend’s game in Perth and will be unavailable through injury,” King said.
 
“Unfortunately these three boys didn’t get up but it gives another three highly valued veterans another crack in the starting lineup.” 

The Western Bulldogs will hold at open training session at Whitten Oval on Saturday 14th July, 2012 from 10am. All welcome.
