We are back once again for the Williamstown report and today we are joined by Western Bulldogs Development/VFL Coach Peter German.  Peter obviously a disappointing result on the weekend, what did you make of Saturday’s game?

We had our share of the ball and I felt we probably controlled 60% of the game.  But when the question was asked of us in the last quarter we made some bad decisions, which cost us on the scoreboard.

Were there any positives to take out of the game?

I think the form of Callan Ward in his second game back was definitely a positive.  I also think Brad Johnson got through the game well, he played about 70% of the match and that is what we wanted, he pulled up well too.  Stephen Tiller was good down back as well and Andrew Hooper is starting to show some good signs, his pressure and ability to find space has been pleasing.

How did you see Jordan Roughead’s game?

He came up against the state ruckmen in Stephenson who had some experience and strength on Jordan.  I think Jordan would have learnt a lot on the weekend, Stephenson played a few tricks at times which may have caught him out.  In saying that we are very pleased with his development, despite the fact he had his colours slightly lowered on the weekend.

So what is the plan of attack this weekend against your old side Casey?

Yes well I am obviously coaching against my old side, as is Brad Gotch who is now in charge of the Scorpions.  It will be interesting because we both obviously know a lot about the opposition, but for us we just approaching this as another big game for us.  We will prepare for the game with our usual intense focus and I just hope the players are still smarting after the weekends result.

Obviously Ward and Johnson will be pushing for selection in the AFL this week, who might fill their place in the VFL seniors?

The progress of the seconds side has actually been really good.  Matthew Panos has been solid, while Eddie Prato seems to be coming along in leaps and bounds...we are really happy with his progress.  Jamason Daniels played another good game too, but again we will have to see what happens with injuries.

So finally, any mixed feelings ahead of this week’s game?

No not really, I was only at Casey for one year although I am still in contact with some of the boys down there.  But I can guarantee that no one from Casey will be getting any favours out of me this weekend.

Well thanks again for your time Peter and good luck against your old side.
