At the Western Bulldogs, we’re deeply committed to providing opportunities for young people in need through our popular Fresh Program. Designed to help participants develop positive pathways to further their education and employment prospects, the Club’s ability to deliver a high quality education alternative is greatly enhanced by our community partners. And one such generous partner is Leighton Contractors.

Leighton Contractors, one of Australia and New Zealand’s leading contractors, service providers and project developers, has donated computer hardware and equipment for the benefit of student learning. This includes 22 computers, seven laptops, a colour photocopier and a server for our Community Education Centre in Barkly Street, Footscray West.

According to John Bartolotta, Finance and Administration Manager, Southern Region for Leighton Contractors, who recently dropped by Whitten Oval, the facilities for the players and the community are impressive. “I was glad to see that the 22 computers were being put to good use and saw that the teachers and students appreciated receiving these units.”

For Western Bulldogs Chief Executive Simon Garlick, Leighton Contractors’ generosity and assistance is greatly valued by the whole organisation. “We are extremely proud of the Fresh Program and the support of individuals and organisations such as Leighton Contractors.  With the continuing strong support of our community partners Olex, Macquarie Sports, Qenos and Marstel Terminals, they help us ensure that Fresh continues viably and has an impact on our community,” Garlick said.

Leighton’s donation was made possible by the Beacon Foundation, which has worked in partnership with business since 1995 to address youth unemployment. Leighton Contractors are corporate supporters of the Beacon Foundation and Fresh is a Beacon School.
