Clay Smith heads three inclusions to the Western Bulldogs side set to challenge an experienced Geelong outfit at Etihad Stadium on Saturday night.

The 19-year-old midfielder has been recalled to the side, while rookie elevation Mark Austin and Patrick Veszpremi have also been rewarded for their strong VFL form in recent weeks.

Austin looks to add to his 26 game career tally on Saturday, after impressing in the Seagulls' dominant win against Werribee last week, holding the VFL’s leading goal kicker scoreless while assuming a key defensive post.

Elevated to the senior list in lieu of Shaun Higgins who has been ruled out for the season with a footy injury, the 24-year-old has also been trialled as a forward during Williamstown’s first three rounds.

“Great to see Mark Austin come in and get his opportunity, he’s been playing some great footy down back for Williamstown over the last month and thoroughly deserves his opportunity,” Assistant Coach Shannon Grant said.

Consecutive three goal hauls to Veszpremi in the VFL also earns him the opportunity to play his first game in Bulldogs’ colours this season.

The versatile utility has demonstrated his aptitude to win his own ball in recent weeks, while his natural flair and finishing skills have also been highlighted.

“And another one whose been showing a hell of a lot for Williamstown over the last month through the midfield and also forward is Paddy Veszpremi,” he said.

“Great to see guys being rewarded for their efforts back at Williamstown, and hopefully they can come in and play a significant role for us on the weekend.”

Top ten draft picks Jake Stringer and Jack Macrae have also been named in the starting side, after showing promising signs on debut last weekend.

“Quite exciting to see Jakey Stringer come in and play last week i thought he adapted quite well to the game and looking forward to see how he goes again,” he said.

?“And also Jack Macrae who will get another game following off another impressive debut last weekend.”

Ryan Griffen and Daniel Giansiracusa have both been replaced in the side after being ruled out through injury, while Ayce Cordy has been omitted.
