Will Minson says an Australian Football Hall of Fame induction is one of the highest honours in the sport and ex-teammate Scott West was a more than deserving recipient, after the 324-gamer was inducted on Wednesday.

The five time All Australian and seven time Club best and fairest winner was recognised at this week’s Australian Football Hall of Fame for his contributions and lasting legacy he left on the game.

“That’s a tremendous accolade and a tremendous thing to be bestowed upon anyone and I congratulate Westy for that,” Minson said.

“I was very fortunate to play with Scott early in my career and he certainly shaped many young players at the footy club.”

Both at Whitten Oval from 2003 until West’s retirement in 2008, Minson said the Club great was an inspiration on and off the field, whether it was driving standards or his elite footballing ability.

“[He had] just his tenacious attitude, he’d never say die, very courageous, head over the ball, the ability to win the footy consistently and the ability to back up week to week was quite inspirational,” he said.
