Western Bulldogs Development Coach Peter German says Williamstown need to attack Saturday’s clash against Frankston with more urgency, if they’re to return to the winner’s list.
The Seagulls underwent an altered approach to training this week in an attempt to find the desperation needed to bounce back with a win on Saturday.
“We’ve changed things at training, we’ve looked at how we review the game and how we preview the game this week,” German said.
“The main thing is, like any game, when you go out there you have got to be desperate and play with the real genuine spirit and hardness.
“I think that is probably something that has been lacking the last couple of weeks.”
German said the players also need to take ownership and drive the standards across the group, with the top four side coming off two consecutive defeats.
“The last couple of games have probably been disappointing in how we want to play and what standards we’ve set,” he said.
“That’s where the players have to start their preparation and understanding that we have dropped a little bit in the last couple of games and we have to quickly rectify that.
“We’ve got to get back to being more effective in everything we do, whether it’s a tackle or defence.”
Frankston pose a tough task, quickly becoming one of the in-form sides in the competition after a slow start to the season.
“They are possibly in the top four sides over the past month so we will prepare accordingly,” he said.
“They are in good form and they have players who can kick goals, their midfield is going well and they are starting to get some good rebound from their defence.
