As the Western Bulldogs celebrate 100 years in the VFL/AFL, the entire journey of the Club has been captured in an updated history book which will be available to fans later this year.

Bulldogs Through & Through tells the entire story of the Club from its beginnings as Footscray in the 1880s, through its admission to the VFL in 1925, and a century of elite footy that has included precious triumphs, heartbreaking defeats and countless outstanding individual performances.

The book profiles many of the great players who have worn the red, white and blue, including members of the Australian Football Hall of Fame, Brownlow Medallists, Coleman Medallists and modern-day champions, along with administrators who have served the club diligently to make it what it is today.

Published to celebrate the club’s 100th year in the VFL/AFL, Bulldogs Through & Through is fully illustrated and includes many archival images from the club’s earliest years alongside extensive coverage of the famous premiership wins of 1954 (VFL), 2016 (AFL) and 2018 (AFLW).

In the book’s foreword, Club President Kylie Watson-Wheeler notes that all of the Bulldogs’ recent achievements have been made possible by the efforts of those who came before and made such significant contributions to the Bulldogs cause.

“Our modern heroes stand on the shoulders of giants who are given appropriate attribution throughout this exceptional record of our history,” Watson-Wheeler writes.

“As we surge into a new century as an elite club with so much hope and promise, we must never forget the moments that define us, and our history that has made us who we are today.”

The comprehensive anthology – written and compiled by club historian Darren Arthur and Andrew Gigacz – is a must-have for all Bulldogs fans and will be available in special commemorative editions, making the perfect gift for any passionate red, white and blue supporter.
