Pre-season progress: gaining momentum
Development Coach Peter German looks at how the Western Bulldogs third year players are tracking after the pre-season break.
Mitch Wallis: Each year Mitch grows in confidence and grows in voice. He’s a real committed, competitive person out on the track and he is showing all of those qualities so far over pre-season.
Tom Liberatore: Libba is working exceptionally hard out on the track and is fitter and stronger this pre-season. His work at stoppages, as good as he is at them, he wants to be better. He is really committed to his footy.
Luke Dahlhaus: To be able to play up the ground and then get back close to goals, he needs to have a tank on him and that is one area that he’s really been focused on and that’s certainly been an improvement from last year. When you get into the competitive drills and in close, he is really in right amongst it and he is showing that he is in pretty good shape.
Jason Johannisen: Last year was a real improvement for JJ to the point of playing AFL senior footy. But you can just see he is starting to grow in confidence and really has a stronger understanding of what’s expected of him, especially as a defender. Every time you go out with the forwards vs backs type of drill, as a defender he is really hard to beat. I think he is starting to give himself every opportunity to have a good season with his fitness, his footy smarts and the way he is using his body at training.
