Gold Coast levelled the scores early via Harley Bennell, forcing the Bulldogs to respond quickly with Lukas Markovic continuing to show promise in his shift forward, kicking his second goal. 

The 25-year-old almost found his third but the shot went wide. 

The tackling pressure from the Bulldogs in their back half prevented Gold Coast from creating more chances, but as soon as the Suns were able to find space they were able to convert. 

Gold Coast continued to drive the ball into their forward line, applying consistent pressure to the Bulldogs’ defenders who worked tirelessly to deflect the Suns’ barrage of goals. 

Player of the Quarter

Ryan Griffen was a shining light in the third quarter, working tirelessly to help the Bulldogs’ back six when the pressure was intense. His run and creativity was influential, while his eleven disposals for the quarter was certainly felt.

Fourth Quarter

Key Plays

Jake Stringer continued to look dangerous in the forward line, putting boot to ball in a congested zone at the top of the goal square to find the first goal of the term. 

Bob Murphy continued the draftee’s lead with a goal of his own shortly after. 

The Bulldogs momentum was met by a desperate Gold Coast, who began to work their way back into the game. 

With seven minutes remaining, Dahlhaus set up Koby Stevens in front of goals but he was unable to convert the shot. 

At the other end of the ground the Suns were able to extend the lead to 27 points and all but secured their victory. 

Giansiracusa had the opportunity to chip away at the margin but his attempt ended in a behind. 

The Bulldogs inability to convert their chances resulted in the Suns taking the four points. 

Player of the Quarter

Will Minson comprehensively won the hitouts against the Gold Coast suns with 40 to the Suns’ combined total of 18. His work rate around the ground was improved throughout the game with 16 disposal, five marks and four tackles.
