The players have been met with a pointed game review of last week but Luke Dahlhaus says Brendan McCartney’s temperament has remained consistent and solutions to the third quarter collapse have been provided.
“He doesn’t get too down on himself Macca or down on us, he’s a very good teacher of the game,” Dahlhaus told SEN radio.
“Basically we went through the third quarter nearly play-by-play and went through the things we need to get better at.
“A lot of defensive stuff, just a lot of little things he would like us to tinker – he wasn’t too angry, he just likes to teach.”
The Bulldogs have another challenging opponent in Fremantle this weekend, giving Dahlhaus and his teammates an opportunity to match up against a similarly defensive minded team.
The 21-year-old said the clearance battle will be an important part of the game and has backed his midfield teammates against a star-studded Fremantle onball group.
“We’ve got Libba and Boydy and Griffen there who are very good clearance players,” he said.
“[We are] up against another force this week with the tall midfielders from Freo.”
Dahlhaus has enjoyed more midfield time this season and is career-best form, averaging eight possessions and two marks more per game than last year.
