Two Western Bulldogs midfielders have featured in Mike Sheahan’s top 50 players, ahead of season 2014.

Ryan Griffen and Tom Liberatore have been given the nod in the Herald Sun’s biannual list, with the Bulldogs’ captain named in ninth place – after ranking eighth last year.  

The high-class midfielder turned heads in 2013 as one of the competitions most dangerous players through the middle, also earning All Australian honours for the first time.

Liberatore spent more time in the spotlight last season, proving his worth as one of the best inside midfielders and demanding more opposition attention.

The 21-year-old has deservingly been named in Sheahan’s top 50 for the second time, sitting at number 39 before the season begins – a slight drop of eight spots from 31^st in October.

If the father - son recruit’s NAB Challenge form continues into season proper, Liberatore could see himself rise up the ranks even further – already averaging almost nine clearances, six tackles and five inside 50s per game.

Will Minson and Robert Murphy were unable to retain their spot in Sheahan’s top 50 after placing 37^th and 45^th respectively at the end of season 2013.
