First round draftee Clay Smith has signed a two year contract extension, which will see him at the Western Bulldogs until the end of 2016.
Making an immediate impression in 2012 with four goals on debut, Smith has shown promise both through the midfield and as a forward in his young career to date.
While injuries have restricted his game time in the past 12 months, the 21-year-old’s diligence to his rehabilitation and determination has earned the respect of his coaches and teammates alike.
List Manager Jason McCartney said securing Smith’s services for another two years was a good result for the Club, and just reward for Smith who continues to impress with his approach to his football.
“We feel we are forming a core group of young players with desirable and sound qualities and Clay signing a contract extension is another step in the right direction for our Club,” McCartney said.
“Clay is a ruthless competitor who works extremely hard at his game, and we look forward to him having a long career with us.”
Smith has kicked 16 goals from 31 games since being selected at pick 17 overall in the 2011 AFL National Draft.
