Milestone man Harry Taylor will line up for Geelong in his 150th game on Sunday against the Bulldogs but the swingman knows not to undervalue Brendan McCartney’s men.

Having played under McCartney’s tutelage early in his career, Taylor is aware of the Bulldogs senior coach’s defence-first philosophy and knows a physical encounter awaits.

Dissecting the Bulldogs most recent wins against Collingwood and Melbourne have confirmed to him that the Bulldogs will not be easy beats.

“I watched their game against Collingwood pretty closely and I thought they were outstanding and obviously against Melbourne who are a really defensive minded side, they scored relatively well at stages,” Taylor said.

The 28-year-old said McCartney and number of the Bulldogs personnel have spent time in the inner sanctum at the Cattery during a period of success as both players and coaches.

While the football cycle turns quickly and McCartney has not been affiliated with Geelong in over four years, Taylor expects the Bulldogs to put up a challenge and he can’t wait for the contest.

“A big effort for us this week and obviously Macca spent a fair bit of time at our club and knows all of our individual players very well,” he said.

“He’s not the only one – there’s quite a few ex-Geelong fellas there now who would know the ins and outs of our footy club very well.

“It’s a big challenge for us and one we are hopefully up to.”
