Coming off a six-day break and a trip to Perth, Western Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge has assured supporters his side is well-prepared for their clash with North Melbourne on Saturday.
The Bulldogs named six changes to face North, including experienced duo Matthew Boyd and Liam Picken, and vice-captain Jordan Roughead.
With the Club’s VFL side coming off a nine-day break, Beveridge said while some changes were forced due to injury, others were to ensure his side was fresh to face North in a must-win match for both sides.
“We’re pretty good, obviously we’ve made quite a few changes, two of those due to injury.
“It’s disappointing that ‘Pearcey’ (Daniel Pearce) and Roarke (Smith) have gone out of the side, I would have liked to have given them a bit more of a run at it than just one game.
“But we pick our sides to win and the 22 will go out and put their best foot forward tomorrow.”
The Dogs have also added young trio Lukas Webb, Mitch Honeychurch and debutant Zaine Cordy in what Beveridge said was an important balance between youth and experience.
“Matthew Boyd and Liam Picken obviously didn’t play last week so that’s a bonus that they can come in fresh, which they will.
“It’s a combination of everyone, it’s the broad spectrum of our playing group, it’s probably the continuity of their footy.
“If they’ve played a number of games in a row, and most full game time, then at different points they need to be eased off… but we’re going in healthy.”
