Seeking improvement shouldn’t be restricted to game day performances but rather a daily challenge says Western Bulldogs veteran Daniel Giansiracusa.

The 30-year-old forward said a key focus with a young list will be on the smaller successes of both the individual and the group and not just the win – loss ratio.

“I think it has been well documented that we have gone from the third oldest list to the third youngest within a couple of years and we have to make sure that we are showing improvement not only game day but from session to session,” Giansiracusa said.

“I think that is important, that is how you make progress.”

Buoyed by the addition of a number of new faces across the Club including five new draftees, Giansiracusa believes the Bulldogs are in an encouraging position at this stage of the offseason.

“There’s a new president and a lot of new staff around and it’s an exciting time for the footy club,” he said.

“New faces not only with the staff but the new young recruits they invigorate you a bit, especially for an older player and I think we have got some pretty good ones.

“They have only been here a couple of weeks but… it is exciting.

“It has been full on like all pre-seasons are but I am looking forward to having a little break over Christmas - then I am sure more footy stuff will ramp up after the break.”

The Bulldogs leading goalkicker in 2012 said the holiday break was a perfect time to buy a membership and support the Club and the emerging young pups.

Our Heartland, the Western Bulldogs membership video, was launched at Open Training on Monday with fans given the opportunity to see the new faces out on the training track.

“Obviously we want to get the membership numbers up and I think a lot of people do Christmas presents and stuff like that,” he said.

“I think we obviously tapped into the Western Front last year and that we are a community based footy club and that it is really important… it’s not just the Footscray area it’s the whole western region.”

“That’s just continued on with the Heartland theme and we’ve got to make sure we get that up.”
