Western Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge says that midfielder Tom Liberatore is likely to play this weekend against Richmond after recovering from a concussion sustained during last week’s loss to the Giants.

Liberatore left the field in the early stages of the final quarter last Friday night after a heavy tackle from Giants ruckman Shane Mumford, and didn’t return.

Speaking to media on Thursday morning, Beveridge said said the 24-year-old had responded well to concussion testing throughout the week, and should line up agains the Tigers.

“Tom’s just got through his cog-state test, and he’s available for selection and will more than likely play,” he said.

But Liberatore may not be the only inclusion when the team is announced later today, with the availability of ruckman Tom Campbell and defender Matthew Boyd meaning there may be players unlucky to miss, according to Beveridge.

“There’s some pressure on there for spots with Matty Boyd and Tommy Campbell being available.

“Even Mitch Wallis playing really well first up, Lukas Webb continues to play really well at VFL level, and a few others, so we’ve got a few headaches there selection-wise and it’s our challenge to get it right.”

One player who will have to wait at least another week before returning to AFL action is Tory Dickson. Dickson kicked three goals in his return from an abdominal complaint in the VFL last week, but he won’t be named before he’s ready.

“Not this week, we’re just ramping up his game time and making sure that he’s ready.

“He played pretty well for Footscray last week – another one or two weeks away, I’d say.”

The Bulldogs take on Richmond this Saturday night at 7.25pm, with a Footscray also facing the Tigers in a doubleheader.
