To say Western Bulldogs captain Robert Murphy is eagerly anticipating his first game since rupturing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee would be an understatement.
With tickets selling fast, the Bulldogs have gone all out in their preparations for Saturday's historic double-header JLT Community Series and NAB AFL Women's contest at VU Whitten Oval.
The men's team will kick off proceedings with a pre-season hit-out against Melbourne at 4.40pm AEDT, followed by the women's team's battle with the Demons under lights at 7.40pm AEDT.
"I feel like a recruit, which I know is a bit of a throwaway line," Murphy told SEN.
"But of all the players lining up this weekend for the JLT series, I'd say I'd be in the top few of [those] who are most excited to get out there.
"It's been a while."
To mark the occasion of the double-header, the Bulldogs have organised on-field pre-match entertainment, food trucks, jumping castles, face painting and a footy clinic for the kids.
A special Bulldogs-branded photo booth will also be available for fans to document their experience at the matches.
To guarantee entry, members are advised to upgrade to a grandstand seat or register for a general admission ticket.
With the Whitten Oval's capacity set at 10,000, the Bulldogs have recommended that all fans guarantee their entry by purchasing a general admission ticket via Ticketmaster.
Entry to the NAB AFLW match is free, with gates to be re-opened (subject to capacity) after three-quarter time in the men's match.
