The Western Bulldogs have selected three talented youngsters at the 2024 Telstra AFLW Draft.
Looking to add depth across key positions, the Bulldogs secured key-position forward Emma McDonald, tough midfielder Sarah Poustie and home-grown talent Keeley Hardingham at Monday night’s draft.
McDonald, taken with the Bulldogs’ first pick, joins the Club after a defining year with the Oakleigh Chargers.
A part of their back-to-back winning Premiership team, the 18-year-old showcased her class as a forward kicking 18 across her 13 games, while also averaging 14.8 disposals and 4.9 marks per game.
Adding some toughness to the Dogs’ young midfield brigade, Sarah Poustie was selected with Pick 25 by the Club with her elite endurance a standout of the youngster’s game.
Able to play both as an inside-and-outside midfielder, the Oakleigh Charger took the Draft Combine by storm when she broke the 2km time-trial record with a blistering 7:02.
Rounding out the Dogs’ selections on the night was the familiar face of VFLW young-gun, Keeley Hardingham.
Having made her way to Mission Whitten Oval at the beginning of the 2024 season, Hardingham captured the attention of the Dogs’ and the wider VFLW community earning the leagues’ Rising Star Award and a spot as the VFLW Team of the Year.
After a strong finish to the season, the Dogs will look to build on solid foundations under the leadership of Senior Coach Tam Hyett and Captain De Berry.
