The Western Bulldogs’ AFLW team is treating the 2019 season as a fresh new challenge, as they enter season three of the competition as the reigning premier.
The Dogs have injected several new players to their squad, and there hasn’t been much talk about backing up from the recent premiership success.
“It’s a new year. It’s a new chapter. We’ll be looking to build on our culture from next year and hopefully everything goes well,” forward Brooke Lochland said at the Club’s Family Fun Day on Saturday.
“We’ve got a bit of a different group this year. We’ve got a few new girls, and it’s trying to get them up to speed with what we’ve been doing.

“It’s all going really well. Everyone’s feeling really good. Once we get back in January it’s pretty full-on until games.”
It’s been a big week for the Bulldogs’ women’s squad, which rode a rollercoaster of emotions as number one pick Isabel Huntington escaped injuring her ACL after an innocuous incident at training.
“It was pretty emotional for all of us. She’s such an important part of our group,” Lochland said.
“She’s the ultimate team-mate, and we just want to see her out on the track. We’re happy that it’s positive.”
The Bulldogs kick off their flag defence on the road against Adelaide on Saturday February 2.
