In a round where some of the AFL’s premier players proved their match-winning quality, few were as influential as Western Bulldogs dynamo Marcus Bontempelli… The Bont is right in the conversation for best player in the AFL. – Herald Sun journalist Mark Robinson

This bloke has superstar written all over him. Just look at these numbers. Naughton is 19. He's coming off his 25th career game. They say big men take time to develop. Not Naughton. He's fiercely competitive, thrives on a challenge, loves making defenders look silly and is already one of the most magnetic players in the AFL. What a jet. – AFL Media journalist Dinny Navaratnam

“I’m pretty sure I heard a pop in the middle of the night… I’m fairly certain that was his head.” – ruckman Tim English joked on Sunday morning, about teammate and housemate Aaron Naughton

“We could’ve had Jesus Christ playing down there tonight and I reckon he would’ve struggled on him." – Richmond coach Damien Hardwick

They made the Tigers look toothless in a crushing 47-point win at Marvel Stadium, which snapped a four-game losing streak and might just be looked back on as a turning point in the Bulldogs’ season. – Herald Sun journalist Chris Cavanagh

“There was some good banter… Grimsey’s always pretty good down back, and every time I ran through the middle ‘Dusty’ had something to say… It was actually a bit of a laugh out there for most of the night which was good.” – first-year Bulldog Sam Lloyd on coming up against his former side for the first time

Dogs ruckman Tim English withstood a physical onslaught from Toby Nankervis to win that battle and his talented midfield took advantage. The quality of the Bulldogs' centre clearances was much better than Richmond's. – The Age journalist Peter Ryan

"The journey is only starting down there. The more games I play down there the more I will learn and become a better player." high-flying forward Aaron Naughton

“When I look at Naughton, I see him as a thinker of the game and the way he positions himself where he plays. Even when he played as a defender early in his career, he looked like he really understood the way the game was being played and what he needed to do in different circumstances and different situations.” – Essendon great Tim Watson on Aaron Naughton

“I’m going to declare you the nicest guest we’ve ever had on this show,” – commentator Mark Howard, after hosting Tim English on Triple M’s Sunday Rub
